At the heart of the property is a beautifully restored wool shed, now a purpose-built yoga shala where you’ll spend your days practising, learning, and growing. Getting To The Farm

Tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Whangaruru, Northland, The Farm offers the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Located approximately one hour from Whangārei and within easy reach of the Bay of Islands, it’s an easy journey whether you’re travelling from elsewhere in New Zealand or flying in from overseas.

The drive itself is part of the experience. As the landscape opens into rolling farmland and native bush, you’ll leave the pace of everyday life behind and begin to settle into the slower rhythm of retreat living.

Life at The Farm

What is a typical day like at The Farm?

Each day follows a balanced rhythm of yoga practice, teacher training sessions, delicious shared meals and time to relax in nature. While the schedule is immersive, there’s also space to rest, reflect and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

What are the days like? Do we get off days?

Trainings run from 7am – 6pm for 6 days a week with one off day. We will begin our day with a morning asana at 7am, have an hour breakfast from around 9am and morning lectures till around 1pm. Lunch break is always 2 hours. The afternoons will focus on teaching methodology and practice, then its asana theory and workshops. We finish around 6pm each day.

Will I have phone reception and Wi-Fi?

Yes. Wi-Fi is available in communal areas. Many students choose to spend less time on their devices, making the most of the opportunity to disconnect from everyday distractions.

What makes learning at The Farm different?

Being immersed in nature, sharing meals with fellow students and living together throughout the training creates a learning experience that’s difficult to replicate in a city studio. Without the usual distractions of everyday life, many students find they’re able to focus more deeply, build lasting friendships and experience meaningful personal growth.

Is The Farm suitable if I’ve never stayed on a farm before?

Absolutely. The Farm offers a peaceful, welcoming environment with comfortable accommodation and modern facilities. No farming experience is needed—just a willingness to slow down, immerse yourself in the experience and enjoy life surrounded by nature.

Can I explore the surrounding area?

Absolutely. During your free time, you’re welcome to enjoy the property’s grounds, walking tracks and natural surroundings. On designated time off, many students also choose to go on the many activities available such as horse riding, surfing, sailing, biking or just visiting nearby beaches or exploring Northland’s beautiful coastline.
